Abstract:
In 1980, Amitai Regev  proved that the sequence enumerating the number of ways
of walking n steps, starting at the origin, in the three-dimensional cubic
lattice, where at each step the walker (or rather flier) can go one unit in any
positive direction (i.e.  East, North, or Up), while staying within the
region:  ``Longitude  larger than Latitude larger than Elevation", is the
sequence of Motzkin numbers (1,1,2,4,9,21,51,127,323, ... ) .  But this is just
a tip of a huge iceberg.
